BID EUCHRE

If you enjoy Euchre, you'll have double the pleasure playing Bid Euchre, using two Euchre decks (9 thru Ace). There is no kitty, and the power to determine trump is literally in your hand.  Players bid to declare how many tricks they think they can take.  After playing a few games, Players are delighted at the challenge that Bid Euchre presents. So try your hand on the 3rd Tuesday of each Month at 1:30 p.m.

BIRDING

Whether you are new to Birding or an experienced Birder, this is a great place to meet like minded people and celebrate our feathered friends.
The group meets monthly, usually on Tuesdays, for either a presentation or an outing.
The exact date and time of the meeting can vary depending on the weather, where the birds are, and the availability of speakers or leaders.

 April

The Birding Group will meet on April 9 (note the second, not the first Tuesday) for an outing to the Bracebridge lagoons. We will be looking for waterfowl as a member has already reported seeing Common Mergansers, Ring-neck Ducks, Bufflehead, and Wood Ducks there, and there should be more species and more individuals by then. Meeting time and place will be sent out closer to the date, along with a request to RSVP. If you are not already on the group mailing list, contact Leslie Buckle for more information and to sign up.  Location: TBD

BOOK GROUP

Do you love books? Our Group is a great spot for Bonding, Making Friends & Sharing different perspectives as we discuss our Pick Of The Month. At 1:30 p.m., on the 3rd Thursday of each month, we rotate to a different Member’s home. It's there we can take a break amidst the madness of life. The Book is just a great excuse to get together.

COMMUNITY OUTINGS

Tired of going to a function alone or even worst not even going at all.  Don’t miss out on all the wonderful activities happening in Huntsville and around Muskoka, particularly throughout the Summer, like the theatre, markets, craft fairs, concerts, art exhibits, and so much more. Here is your opportunity to meet up with other Members who would also like to share in the fun.

DANCING

Kick off your shoes and dance to the Oldies. Initially, this group will be joining the Canadian Legion's Dance Night on the 2nd Friday of each Month at 7:30 p.m. There is an admission of $10.00, but you can dance to your heart's delight with music from Bill Dickinson.  And, who knows where the Dancing Dozen may boogie to next.

DUPLICATE BRIDGE

Duplicate bridge is the most widely used variation of contract bridge. Every hand, whether strong or weak, is played in competition with others playing the identical cards. The object of play is not to amass the largest number of points, but rather to bid and play the hands better than all the other pairs who play them. Our six month schedule starts in May and we play the 3rd Thursday of the Month at 1:30 p.m.

April

Currently on hiatus.  Next meeting May 16, 2024
EUCHRE GROUP

Look forward to exercising our brains, honing our social skills and being tempted with coffee and goodies!!  Euchre is an easy to learn, trick-taking, truimp-calling card game. It's played with a deck of 24 standard playing cards, using 9s through to the Aces.  We meet in Group Member's homes, on the 4th Wednesday of each Month at 1:30 p.m. We hope you will join us for a good game of cards and total enjoyment.

GENEALOGY

Collaborating with others is one of the most cherished aspects of genealogy. Working and sharing with like-minded folks, while conducting your family history research, can be both helpful and rewarding.  Join us at 1:30 p.m., on the 3rd Wednesday of each Month. Meetings are in the Solarium Room at the Huntsville Public Library, where we have free access to Ancestry.com. We welcome new and experienced Family Tree Hunters.

MAH JONGG

Sharpen your mind and train your concentration skill. American Mahjong is a 4-player, tile-based game. Each player receives 13 tiles to place on a rack. The goal is to match one’s set of tiles to one of 55 different hands on a preset score card by taking turns at trading, picking up and discarding tiles. The game depends partially on luck and partially on skill. This group meets on the 3rd Monday of each Month at 1:30 p.m.

April

Our group is just getting started and we welcome new members, including those who have never played before. We provide the necessary tiles for the game as well as a copy of the Mah Jongg card.
Our next meeting is on Monday April 15th. If interested, please contact the host for the location as we rotate houses for our games.

MANAGEMENT TEAM

The Management Team, made up of the Executive and Committee Chairs, meets on the 4th Monday of every Month at 9:30 a.m.  During the meeting, the Team addresses Member feedback, discusses upcoming plans and finds new ways to enhance and energize our Club.

Members, if you are interested in being a part of the Management Team, please reach out to our President.

MEN'S LUNCH (R.O.M.E.O)

MEXICAN TRAIN

Mexican Train is a modern version of Dominoes. The object is to play your tiles onto one or more chains, emanating from a central hub and to use all your tiles before anyone else. Because of its simplicity and interaction, it can be played by nearly anyone. We welcome New Players to join in an afternoon of exhilarating fun, on the 1st Monday of each Month at 1:30 p.m.

NEEDLES & HOOKS

The name, “Needles & Hooks”,  encompasses what we actually do. Knitting, crocheting, sewing, weaving, needlepoint, crewelwork, embroidery, rug hooking . . . the list goes on. If it involves a needle and/or hook, it will fit here, on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome and we hope we can help each other either by learning new skills or by solving old problems.

PADDLING GROUP

The PADDLING GROUP meets once a month from May to October for a group paddle on one of our local rivers/lakes. Members are invited to participate by paddling either a canoe, kayak or stand-up paddle board and are required to outfit their paddling craft with the appropriate safety gear (whistle, bailing device, extra paddle, 50” throw rope and a personal floatation device - to be worn by every paddler while on the water) and to ensure the safe transportation of their craft to and from the designated put-in locations.   Each outing lasts between 3 and 4 hours with a shore lunch part way through the trip.  The purpose of the Paddling Group is to offer members the opportunity to enhance their paddling skills while exploring a variety of local waterways and developing a community of like-minded paddlers.

PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP

Come take part in some winter sports activities. The group meets every Monday at 11:00 a.m. when snow levels allow. We are meeting approximately every other week at Arrowhead, which has a wonderful Visitors’ Centre with fireplace for a picnic lunch after our exercise. Other locations are included on alternate weeks.  Please ensure your name is on the list, if you want to be kept up to date on what’s happening!
