Our Art Group will be meeting in the drop-in room at the Active Living Centre on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 9:00 a.m. until noon. There is a minimal cost of $10.00 for 10 sessions, purchased at the Summit Centre’s Reception.

BID EUCHRE

If you enjoy Euchre, you'll have double the pleasure playing Bid Euchre, using two Euchre decks (9 thru Ace). There is no kitty, and the power to determine trump is literally in your hand.  Players bid to declare how many tricks they think they can take.  After playing a few games, Players are delighted at the challenge that Bid Euchre presents. So try your hand on the 3rd Tuesday of each Month at 1:30 p.m.

Please RSVP

BIRDING

The birding group meets monthly to go on a birdwatching outing with expert leaders, or, during the winter months,  to watch a presentation. Our meetings are held on Tuesday mornings but the particular Tuesday will vary depending on weather, availability of speakers or other factors.

For more information contact Leslie Buckle.

Please RSVP if planning to attend

BOOK GROUP

Do you love books? Our Group is a great spot for Bonding, Making Friends & Sharing different perspectives as we discuss our Pick Of The Month. At 1:30 p.m. on the 3rd Thursday of each month we rotate to a different Member’s home where we take a break amidst the madness of life. The Book is just a great excuse to get together.

COMMUNITY OUTINGS

Tired of going to a function alone or even worst not even going at all.  Don’t miss out on all the wonderful activities happening in Huntsville and around Muskoka, particularly throughout the Summer, like the theatre, markets, craft fairs, concerts, art exhibits, and so much more. Here is your opportunity to meet up with other Members who would also like to share in the fun.

DANCING

Kick off your shoes and dance to the Oldies. Initially, this group will be joining the Canadian Legion's Dance Night on the 2nd Friday of each Month at 7:30 p.m. There is an admission of $12.00, but you can dance to your heart's delight with music from DJ Dustin Clarke.  And, who knows where the Dancing Dozen may boogie to next.

DUPLICATE BRIDGE

Duplicate bridge is the most widely used variation of contract bridge. Every hand, whether strong or weak, is played in competition with others playing the identical cards. The object of play is not to amass the largest number of points, but rather to bid and play the hands better than all the other pairs who play them.

Our six month schedule starts in May and we play the 3rd Thursday of the Month at 1:00 p.m.

EUCHRE GROUP

Look forward to exercising our brains, honing our social skills and being tempted with coffee and goodies!!  Euchre is an easy to learn, trick-taking, truimp-calling card game. It's played with a deck of 24 standard playing cards, using 9s through to the Aces.  We meet in Group Member's homes, on the 4th Wednesday of each Month at 1:30 p.m. We hope you will join us for a good game of cards and total enjoyment.

GENEALOGY

Collaborating with others is one of the most cherished aspects of genealogy. Working and sharing with like-minded folks, while conducting your family history research, can be both helpful and rewarding.  Join us at 1:30 p.m., on the 3rd Wednesday of each Month. Meetings are in the Solarium Room at the Huntsville Public Library, where we have free access to Ancestry.com. We welcome new and experienced Family Tree Hunters.

GOURMET DINING

Dine out at one of Muskoka’s Fine Dining Establishments and enjoy gastronomic delights with the fellowship of Good Friends. Registration is open to all Probus II members, but on a first come first served basis as space is limited. Most dinners are Pay-As-You-Go, you select from the menu and pay individually with your own credit card. There is a Refundable Deposit required with each reservation.

HIKING GROUP

Put on your good, sturdy hiking boots (and your bug jacket in spring) and let's tackle the beautiful trails Muskoka has to offer. We generally hike for 1-2 hours every Monday morning, on a variety of terrains, in a variety of locations. The Group meets from May to end of June and starts again for September and October.

LUNCH BUNCH

Get together for a relaxed, informal lunch with your Probus Friends on the 2nd Wednesday of every Month. We'll try different venues to keep things interesting, with Members taking turns making arrangements with a restaurant of their choice. Participant select their own lunch from the menu and pay for their meal and gratuity individually. Join us as we swap stories, laugh and just hang out.

MANAGEMENT TEAM

The Management Team, made up of the Executive and Committee Chairs, meets on the 4th Monday of every Month at 9:30 a.m.  During the meeting, the Team addresses Member feedback, discusses upcoming plans and finds new ways to enhance and energize our Club.

Members, if you are interested in being a part of the Management Team, please reach out to our President.

MEN'S LUNCH (R.O.M.E.O)

"Retired Old Men Eating Out" This is the chance for all the men of Probus II to meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each Month at 12:30 p.m. to enjoy each others company and interesting conversation. Lunch will take place at one of the Huntsville or area's restaurants. Each participant orders their own lunch from the menu and is responsible for payment and gratuity.

MEXICAN TRAIN

Mexican Train is a modern version of Dominoes. The object is to play your tiles onto one or more chains, emanating from a central hub and to use all your tiles before anyone else. Because of its simplicity and interaction, it can be played by nearly anyone. We welcome New Players to join in an afternoon of exhilarating fun, on the 4th Tuesday of each Month at 1:30 p.m.

NEEDLES & HOOKS

The name, “Needles & Hooks”  encompasses what we actually do. Knitting, crocheting, sewing, weaving, needlepoint, crewelwork, embroidery, rug hooking . . . the list goes on. If it involves a needle and/or hook it will fit in here.  Join us on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome and we hope we can help each other either by learning new skills or by solving old problems.

PADDLING GROUP

The Paddling Group meets once a month from May to October for a paddle on one of our local rivers/lakes. Members are invited to participate by paddling either a canoe, kayak or stand-up paddle board and are required to outfit their paddling craft with the appropriate safety gear  (whistle, bailing device, extra paddle, 50” throw rope and a personal floatation device - to be worn by every paddler while on the water) and to ensure the safe transportation of their craft to and from the designated put-in locations.   Each outing lasts between 3 and 4 hours with a shore lunch part way through the trip.  The purpose of the Paddling Group is to offer members the opportunity to enhance their paddling skills while exploring a variety of local waterways and developing a community of like-minded paddlers.

Owing to minimal participation during our previously scheduled outings, a decision regarding the future of the Paddling Group for 2025 will be made during that calendar year.

PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP

A place for Photographers, of any skill level, to discover creative skill sets, practice new techniques and present their spectacular photos based on a chosen theme. Join us on the 2nd Monday of each Month at 1:30 p.m. perhaps for a photographic field trip to discover awesome local scenery or the microscopic details of plants and insects.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE

On the first Thursday of every month the Social Committee gathers to plan and organize some exciting new events and to finalize the arrangements for events in the works.  This highly motivated team is always looking for new ideas and new members to the group.

TRAVEL GROUP

Whether it be “running with/from the lions" in Africa, becoming a Huntsville HODO on our group’s recent road trip to Prince Edward County or any other place where your interests took you, we'd love to learn about your escapades!

Yet another big THANKS to all of our members who so quickly answered our recent call for presenters to fill our 2024-25 Travel Group calendar.  Our PROBUS year’s itinerary is now packed with exciting adventures that will transport us to the four corners of the globe (although, does a sphere actually have corners?!?).

Travel Group members are encouraged to reach out to Michael Walmsley at m.walmsley44@gmail.com to signup in order to share your travel adventures at a future meeting of the Travel Group.

March

On March 24th beginning at 1:30 p.m., please plan to join us at the Huntsville Royal Canadian Legion as the Travel Group goes way down under!  Tim and Gill Wright will be sharing the highlights of their trip to Australia / New Zealand.  Yes, the destinations with unusual wildlife, interesting dialects, the Great Barrier Reef and oh-so-much-more await us on the Legion's screen as Tim and Gill take us on an adventure of a lifetime.  So, put on your Bush Hat mates and toss another shrimp on the barby as we go down under on March 24th.

WINTER SPORTS

Weekly Snow Sports will commence the second week of January and run through to the middle of March.  We plan on visiting Muskoka's beautiful parks, such as Limberlost, Bracebridge Resource Management Centre, Algonquin, and Arrowhead. Our meeting time is normally 10:am.

Due to our unpredictable weather, the outing may be cancelled or moved to Tuesday.

Future excursions: Participants will receive an email each Saturday morning, outlining the details (destination, meeting time, etc.) for the Monday outing.

Looking forward to seeing you at the park!
